CAtCADÉMIE Master “Agressions”

Already offered several times in Quebec and France, this “Masterclass” is one of Éduchateur’s most popular courses. This course is designed for people who already have a good grounding in animal behavior, or who have taken several of our courses, and who really want to push their behavior analysis and problem-solving skills to the limit, both in terms of aggression between cats and aggression towards humans.
PRACTICE-BASED TRAINING
Over the two-day course, only 25% of the time will be devoted to review and theory. This means that over 75% of the course is actually hands-on, using real cases that Éduchateur has encountered. What’s more, we don’t just do the case as presented at the first consultation, we also see everything that’s been done in the follow-ups. So you get the whole resolution process, including what consultations failed and why.
NEW TOOLS
What participants appreciate most is our two new analysis tools (in the form of decision diagrams), which greatly help in understanding the causes of aggression and the specific solutions to be applied depending on the nature of the aggression. Each case is presented as it was experienced by the Éduchateur customer. Together, the students will try to analyze the situation using the tools provided, and propose solutions as if they were the customer in front of them. The further you progress in the course, the more you’ll be able to either participate in a group and discuss solutions together, or try to solve problems on your own, to really assess your progress. Note that there are no grades or exams. You set your own objectives.
ONLINE TRAINING EXCLUSIVELY ON TWO SUNDAYS
We decided to run this online course exclusively, on two consecutive Sundays, both to avoid spending 2 days in a row in front of a screen, but also to allow people who work or have children not to invest a whole weekend on the course.

WHAT’S INCLUDED
Notes will be sent to you by e-mail a few days before the course. You can print them out yourself if you wish. You’ll also be able to ask any questions you may have, and if you have a case of aggression you’d like to discuss with the group, it could be the subject of a live consultation.
FAQ
Will I learn anything if I attend your general public “Chatvoir” training courses, Camp FélinTensif or Camp FélinXpérience?
This training is far more advanced than what has been covered in these courses.
If I’ve never done the FélinTensif, or followed all the Chatcadémies/Chatvoir, will I be overwhelmed?
It depends on your personal level of knowledge and experience. If you have good knowledge, you should be fine, as there is a review of problem-solving notions about aggression at the beginning. Contact us and we’ll be happy to see if you have the required level to take this course.
If I’m ASD or a veterinarian, is this a good course for me to offer solutions to my customers?
The course will enable you to understand and analyze the causes of aggression and offer help to your clients, but will not make you a cat behaviorist ready to propose behavior therapy to solve the problem. It will, however, enable you to communicate perfectly with an intervener to accompany the patient, should medication be required to resolve the problem (a very common occurrence).
If I’m a canine behaviorist, already used to dealing with dog aggression, will I get my money’s worth?
If you’re a dog behaviorist, this is probably the best course you can take to see the differences between the two species, both in terms of analysis and solutions.
Will I really be able to try to solve cat aggression cases with this course?
If you’re a cat or dog behaviorist, the answer is yes. If you’ve never done behavior consultations before, this course won’t teach you how. It deals only with cases of aggression in cats, and nothing else. It teaches tips to apply in consultations, but it won’t make you a cat behaviorist.
If I can only be present for one day, can I listen to it later?
Unfortunately, no. As mentioned, this course is largely practice-based, so it’s participation and, above all, live practice under the teacher’s supervision that make this course so meaningful.
If I’ve taken the ICF Educator course, will I learn anything new?
In fact, this course has largely been put together for you. All the cases (except one) are new cases that you haven’t seen in the ICF. We did this course in large part because people certified in the ICF program wanted more practice on aggression.

CAtCADÉMIE Maître “10 years of cat behavior updates”
The field of feline behavior is evolving at great speed. It’s sometimes difficult to keep up with all the developments, but more importantly, it’s becoming hard to know what’s still valid and what isn’t anymore. In this 4-hour Chatcademie Master, we’ll be going back 10 years to the year 2020 and highlighting what we used to teach back then, but has now changed.
This training course is ideal for all animal industry professionals who have attended training courses in the past and would like to ensure that their knowledge is up to date. It’s also an excellent training course to make sure you understand the true from the false advice that pollutes the internet and social media, as these are often the things that have changed.
IMPORTANT – This course focuses on feline behavior concepts that have changed over the past 10 years and does not present the complete, detailed theory on each of these subjects.

CAtCADÉMIE Master “Functional analysis”
**Customers from France: this training will be offered through Vox Animae. Register here: https://www.vox-animae.com/
Functional analysis is a highly precise and advanced behavioral analysis technique perfected by Dr. Susan Friedman, and used and modified by Éduchateur for nearly a decade. This CHAtCADÉMIE Maître not only gives the theory, but includes several cases of animal behavior analysis with video, and several pitfalls that students will learn to avoid thanks to this marvelous tool.
Here are the advantages of functional analysis:
- It has the particularity of being very Cartesian and procedural, with several points of verification often much appreciated by people who need a structured method to understand things properly.
- It enables us to understand why an animal (of any species) adopts a particular behavior, by identifying the antecedents and consequencesm and then changing them to modify the behavior itself.
- Above all, it’s designed to avoid the mistakes of interpretation and anthropomorphism commonly made when trying to understand what motivates an animal to behave in a particular way.
- It is also an invaluable tool in the analysis of very complex cases, as it allows us to dissect a chain of behaviors in a very precise way, and thus isolate the important portions.
Course outline :
- The ABCs of behavior.
- Can we and do we still need to use functional analysis?
- Labels, interpretations and anthropomorphisms.
- The simplified, fast version of functional analysis and its limitations.

CAtCADÉMIE Master “Managing comments on your social media in the animal industry”
No matter what type of pet business you operate, you’ll have to manage your Facebook, Twitter or Instagram page. The nature of these social media means that you’ll invariably have to deal with sometimes disparaging comments. Studies show that over 87% of your future customers will consult your social media before doing business with you. Knowing how to respond to these comments is therefore essential.
With 15 years of social media management experience as an Éduchateur and 35 years of professional experience as a manager in customer service and marketing, Daniel Filion leads this conference and will present several simple and practical methods for responding appropriately to the sometimes pleasant and sometimes vindictive comments found on social media.

CAtCADÉMIE Maître “Putting an end to respondent and operant conditioning”
Understanding function and distinguishing between responsive and operant conditioning is essential when dealing with behavioral problems in animals. Nevertheless, these notions are probably the most difficult to unravel. In this training course, you’ll learn several different tricks for mastering these notions of learning mechanics.
IMPORTANT – This conference is open to all, but we recommend that you have some basic knowledge of the subject.
